Calvin Choi, Man Tuen Lo, Chun-wan Fok, Connie Wong appointed as Honorable Presidents of Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, with Carrie Lam, Zhimin Wang, Feng Xie and Yongjiang Tian attended as Officiating Guest and Awardee

The annual dinner reception for Hong Kong Army Cadets Association was successfully held on January 4, 2019. Ms. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of Hong Kong S.A.R, Mr. Zhimin Wang, Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., Mr. Feng Xie, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong S.A.R., Mr. Yongjiang Tian, Major General of People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, were invited as the officiating guests to attend this dinner reception, and together with Mr. Daryl Ng, Director of Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, Chairman of Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation and Deputy Chairman of Sino Group, on behalf of Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, presented the Certificate of Appointment to Mr. Man Tuen Lo, Chairman of Wing Li Group (International) Ltd., Mr.Chun-Wan Fok, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Huo Yingdong Group, Ms. Connie Wong, Managing Directorship of Wong Sun Hing Limited., and Mr. Calvin Choi, Chairman and President of AMTD Group, Founder of AMTD Foundation, officially appointing them as “Honorable President” of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association.

The Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, established on January 18, 2015, is the only voluntary Hong Kong Uniformed Youth Group that provides disciplinary training based on basis of Chinese military practice. It aims to train the young generations and cultivate strong will and for them to learn self-discipline, unity and the spirit of hard work, and is committed to make them stronger, and more disciplined and confident in taking on the responsibility to grow Hong Kong, serve the community, and contribute to the society. The Hong Kong Army Cadets Association offers a wide range of training, including foot drill, flag raising, leadership training, survival in the wild, first aid and lifesaving, physical development and social services. The purposes of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association include improving personal qualities, strengthening the will power through training, developing leadership skills, learning teamwork, promoting the construction of Hong Kong and our homeland, China. Mr. Chee-hwa Tung, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and former Chief Executive of Hong Kong S.A.R., served as the Chief Honorable President of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association.

Ms. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of Hong Kong S.A.R., particularly thanked in her speech the Honorable Presidents and members of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association who were former heads of the different Disciplinary Forces . She also encouraged the community to continue to care about the development of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association and to support the education and training of young generations in Hong Kong. The Chairman of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, Mr. Tak Fung Tai, and Mr. Bunny Chan, Chairman of the Board of the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, also delivered speeches respectively, thanking Hong Kong people for their long-term support for the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association. Mr. Yat-kin Sin, AMTD Chief of Staff, Vice President of AMTD Foundation, and the former Commissioner of Correctional Services of the Hong Kong S.A.R. Government, became a Member of Hong Kong Army Cadets Association General Assembly. At this annual dinner reception, the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association also presented the Outstanding Team Member Award, the Best New Team Member Award, and the Outstanding Service Award.

Furthermore, AMTD Group and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) jointly launch the AMTD FinTech Center of PolyU Faculty of Business, which is the first university-industry collaborated FinTech centre in Hong Kong. AMTD Group and University of Waterloo also jointly established the University of Waterloo-AMTD Innovation Hub in Hong Kong to support the innovative education for the youth.

In addition, AMTD jointly held the “2018 Capital Markets Forum for Listed Companies” together with the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies and HKEX, and jointly held the "2018 Yabuli Youth Forum Innovation Annual Meeting " in Hong Kong together with the United Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum for the first time. Moreover, AMTD has co-hosted the "Hong Kong Charity Dinner" for three consecutive times with The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), the world's largest AIDS non-profit organization, and jointly supported the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to host the first "LUMIERES HONG KONG". AMTD has always been dedicating its effort and resources to fulfill its corporate social responsibility, serving the community, and building a better Hong Kong.
